Episode 28 - Brandon French
Monday Feb 04, 2019
Monday Feb 04, 2019
On this episode of the Hockey Think Tank podcast, we keep the #BellLetsTalk movement circulating as we speak to Brandon French, former college hockey player that has dealt with mental health and addiction issues. Frenchy's alcoholism and drinking habits stemmed from his time playing college hockey all the way up until recently where he attended rehab to deal with his issues. In our conversation, we talk about the difficulties of asking for help, the roots of developing an alcohol problem through hockey, and the journey from rock bottom to sobriety. This episode is raw, real, and a courageous act by Frenchy to speak about his issues so openly...and maybe it can resonate with somebody going through some tough times today. We think this episode will change the life of a listener by making it known that it is strong to ask for help.

Monday Jan 28, 2019
On this episode of the Hockey Think Tank Podcast, we talk with USA Hockey's Bob Mancini. If you really want to get behind the curtain of USA's governing body for the greatest sport on the planet, you are going to love this conversation. Bob was extremely open and candid regarding USA Hockey's decisions and rollouts - some that have been really popular...and some not so much. We talk about the ADM, cross-ice hockey, the tryout rule, how youth hockey is becoming a business and "industry", and Bob's travels around the world as a coach and mentor for USA Hockey. This was a really fun, informative conversation and we think it's really cool to hear straight from the people at USA Hockey themselves. Thank you again for listening!!

We talk to our moms about their lives as hockey moms, and the awesome journeys and experiences we've had together throughout the years. We go through what it's like during the ups and downs, how to have a great parent culture on a team, and they embarrass us like only moms can do. Once again, thank you for listening!

On this episode of the Hockey Think Tank podcast, we have the great honor of speaking with Edzo Olczyk (the legend you hear on NBC) and his son Eddie Jr (Assistant Coach at Division 1 Bemidji State University). It was so cool getting a father and son on together to talk hockey and about their time as Eddie Jr was growing up. We went over how close they are as a family even with Edzo's travels, how the game of hockey has shaped their character, Edzo's battle with colon cancer, and the ever-so-important car ride home. We then talk to Eddie Jr about a day in the life of a college assistant coach, and his process of identifying and recruiting talent/character. It was an awesome conversation that will benefit all players, parents, and coaches!! Thanks again for listening, subscribing, reviewing, and rating on all your podcast apps!!
